What is ReachOut?

ReachOut is a camp for current 7th graders through current seniors in high school.  The camp is led by 7 high school juniors and seniors.  They are elected each year by their fellow campers to plan the camp for the following year. The planning committee, or “PC’s” are these 7 youth, and they meet almost once-a-month for retreat weekends alongside two adult staff, the Deans.  This is what makes ReachOut unique compared to other camps – it is with youth, for youth, and by youth.  These PC’s lead prayers, worship services, large group games, devotions and other various activities throughout the week.  This allows the campers to see their peers in a leadership position and sharing in their faith.

The whole week is based on a Scripture that serves as the theme verse.  The Bible study and worship services surround the theme – for example, the Scripture for ReachOut 2017 was 1 Corinthians 10:13

No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it. {MSG}

The Scripture then was used to focus our study and worship services around the idea that we are never alone, and that God will be with us during all of the hard times in our lives.  The PC’s for 2018 will pray over and pick a new verse and theme for next year.

Where is it?

Lakeside, Ohio is a gated community that hosts us each year.  We stay in two locations within Lakeside: the girls stay at WoHoMis, a two-story lodge, and the boys stay in HillTop House and Annex, two house-style sites.  They are both within close walking distance to where we have our meals at Wesley Lodge and our central meeting location where most of camp takes place, South Auditorium.  More information about Lakeside can be found here:

Who helps run camp?

As you read previously, majority of the leadership in the camp is a group of youth called the PC’s.  However, in addition to the two adult Deans, there are many other staff members who all volunteer a week of their lives to help campers grow in their faith journeys.  Volunteers range from youth leaders who attend with their youth groups, former campers, and of course, many individuals who have a passion for youth ministry and allowing teenagers to find a place to strengthen their relationship with Christ.  We are always looking for additional staff members to help out!
